Margarita Nikolayvna

  • Based off Bulgakov's third wife Elena Sergeevna Shilovskaya. The Master and Margarita's love story is loosely based off Bulgakov's reality. Bulgakov and Elena met each other when both were married, and fell in love immediately.
  • Share some traits with Gretchen, a character from Faust (see reference), and other historical figures, such as Marguerite de Valois and Marguerite de Navarre. In Chapter 21 and 22, Margarita is addressed as the French Queen.
