Yevgeny Onegin (Eugene Onegin)

  • Novel written by Alexander Pushkin, considered one of the greatest Russian poets and the founder of modern Russian literature; his novel was also made into an opera
  • Two main themes of the story: the relationship between fiction and real life, and the corruption society instills within humanity
  • There is a line in that says, “When will the devil come for you?” → the devil is used as a metaphor for the destruction of innocence and sincerity throughout the story
