Poodle

  • In Faust (see reference), the devil appears to Faust as a poodle. The poodle is a recurring symbol throughout the novel.
  • At Satan's ball, when Margarita wears the necklace with the poodle, the necklace weighs her down throughout the night: “Margarita began to notice that her chain had become still heavier” (page 284).
